Do you quilt with a machine on a frame? Short arm? Mid arm? Long arm? We're starting a series of lecture/demos geared towards YOU! We'll start off with a HandiQuilter weekend in February and then have a series of lectures by frame quilters!

So you have this quilting machine on a frame, you've taken a guide class, and now you're not quite sure where to go next? Join long arm quilter Sue Bower for a lecture/demo session suitable to all machine types (short, mid, or long arm). We'll cover loading techniques, batting and thread selection, tension, and how to conquer common pitfalls. Bring your lunch, a notebook, and your questions, and come prepared to learn some tricks that will help you get those tops out of the UFO pile and on to their destination.

March 4 -
Organization is the Key to Success
And good embroidery is the key to happiness! We will take a look at projects that will help you organize your sewing area (or any room!) and review good embroidery techniques while we are doing so. We will discuss hoops – your machine probably came with more than one. When do you use which hoop and why? You will find out in this class. We will also review techniques and learn secrets for good hooping.
April 8 -
Drawing a Blank
If you are “drawing a blank” when it comes to deciding on a project to embroider, then this class is sure to give you inspirations. We will discuss ways to find “ready-to-embroider” articles that are fast and fun. Learn more information on monogramming to personalize everything from pillowcases to shirts to coffee cups. Great projects for home dec!
May 6 -
It’s a Wrap
These projects are great for covering and protecting everything from tiny notebooks to machines. We will learn embroidery techniques for adding embroidery to a pattern – how to choose the size, where to put the design, and what stabilizers and other embroidery products can be used.
June 3 -
Quilting and Embroidery
What better combination could there be than quilting and embroidery. We will explore the world of designs that are appropriate for quilt tops including appliqué designs and how they are stitched. This class will focus on the appropriate stabilizers to use for embroidered blocks in quilts. We will also review techniques for quilting the layers together using the embroidery machine – what type designs are best, how to hoop, which stabilizers to use, and much more.
August 5 -
Embroidery on a Garment
Ever wonder when you should embroider a fabric – before or after cutting it out? We will explore this topic as well as where the appropriate places for embroidery might be. And “just in case” we will also explore how to remove embroidery from a garment that didn?t quite work out. This class
will also explore the stabilizers that are appropriate for garment embroidery whether it is you own creation or purchased.
September 2 -
To a Tee
Knit fabric can be just a bit tricky to embroider, but we will give you tips and hints about how to embroider on stretchy fabric. You will find out what type designs work best on knits, t-shirt, and sweatshirts and how to stabilize them effectively. We will have a fun project using a t-shirt or
sweatshirt and embellishing it to create a unique item.
October 7 -
Christmas Ideas for the 2011 Christmas Season
Get ready to impress your friends and family as you create special décor and gift giving items for the holidays. All of these projects are designs to be done in a hour or less. We will show you lots of fun and creative gifts for you to embroider. And just in time for the holidays!

You Don’t Have to Cook to Make An Apron
Aprons are all the rage these days. Whether you are a world renowned chef or if you don?t cook at all, you can create an apron adorned with spectacular embroidery sure to impress your friends. We will also show some projects created especially for the kitchen. We will review placement in this class – how to get the design in the correct place using templates and/or software.
In addition to the topics above, each session will have a short book, pattern or gadget review!
CREATIVE CLUB RETURNS IN 2011 with STITCHER'S GARDEN!
Learn how to use your specialty feet while making a floral quilt Sticher's Garden! Each month we'll learn a new technique like couching, pintucking, candlewicking, machine applique and more! And we'll try out those decorative stitches you never know what to do with as make a block. Owners of all brands of machines are welcome who are comfortable with their machines. $45 sign up fee (includes 4 yards of background fabric & binder) and $15 per month which includes the class, block pattern and fabrics for blocks. CLASS & CLUB RULES
When you sign up for a class, we need you to pay for that class in order to reserve your space. You may pay your class fee over the phone with a credit card, send in a check or come into the store. You will receive a supply list when you pay for your class. If you have required supplies at home, by all means, bring them. Otherwise, we would appreciate it if you would purchase the supplies from us. We offer a 10% discount on all listed class supplies.
For the comfort & enjoyment of everyone, please do not wear perfume or bring children or guests to class. Also, by overwhelming student demand, our classroom is a CELL PHONE FREE ZONE. All cell phones must be off or set to vibrate and answered outside of the classroom.
Classes will be cancelled by us one week prior to the first class if insufficient enrollment, please wait to buy your materials as there will be no refund for materials bought for a class that does not "go". "No go" class tuition can be put towards another class. Class fees will only be applied to another class or a gift certificate ONLY if you cancel your class more than 7 days before the start of class.
Class fees with national teachers are not refundable. We will try to fill your space & if we do, a store credit will be given.
